Kayangan Lake Stuns: One of the Cleanest Lakes in the Philippines

Kayangan Lake - Skylodge Resort Coron

The timeless beauty of Coron, Palawan continues to allure local and international travelers. Before the pandemic, thousands of visitors were flocking in and out of the world-renowned island, which lies in Mimaropa. Tourists are now exploring, and some are re-discovering Coron when travel restrictions ease in the first quarter of the year. It is a first-class municipality of Palawan, a home to several mini white-sand beaches, World War II shipwrecks, and fascinating landscapes such as Mt. Tapyas.

Among the prominent travel destinations on the island is Kayangan lake, dubbed as one of the cleanest and clearest lakes in the Philippines andAsia by several travelers who visited the enchanting place. It features crystal-clear freshwater, showcasing underwater rock formations and a group of needlefish vividly seen from above. Gazing from the pathway that serves as the view deck to guests is already a fulfilling experience, as the bottom of the lake is distinctly spotted.

The lake lies in an elevated area of the hills situated in the middle of the vast ocean of Coron. Interestingly, bushy trees cover the mountain that surrounds the irresistible lake. Going to the place brings satisfaction or fulfillment by relaxing your inner soul while swimming and letting your eyes wander the enchanting tourist attraction.

How to go to Kayangan, Lake

The lake is only accessible by boat. It is a short ride, about 15 to 20 minutes from Coron town proper. Resorts like SkyLodge have fully furnished boats for their guests to visit the stunning Kayangan lake. Usually, the place is a package for island escapades offered by the resorts and tour operators. Your Coron experience will not be complete without setting foot on this magnificent tourist spot.

Entering the place requires a short hike, which adds thrill to your island-hopping experience. From the docking area of the boats, you will climb the lush mountain for about 360 steps. But only half of the way goes up, and the other half goes down to where the lake lies. It isn't overly steep, and the stairs are in good condition, so if you can hike over a hundred steps, you can do it, and mind you, it's good for your heart.

Before reaching the lake, about 200 steps above the entrance, tourists are lining up to take a photo on the famous spot overlooking the calm water body of the port entry of Kayangan Lake. Over a hundred steps going down, you will see the inviting crystal-clear waters of the lake.
